About Us

We are responsible for maintaining the South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Pension Fund (approximate value £160 million) on an agency basis, for South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Authority, in respect of a restricted number of employees of First South Yorkshire Ltd and ex employees of the First South Yorkshire Ltd who participate in the Local Government Pension Scheme.

The Passenger Transport Pension Fund Committee is made up of 6 Elected Members of the Passenger Transport Authority nominated by the four South Yorkshire District Councils. They act as quasi-trustees and have ultimate legal responsibility for the Fund and the services that we provide. High amongst their priorities are the formulation of investment principles plus the appointment and monitoring of external advisors and fund managers.

Our Head Office in Regent Street, Barnsley is home to both our Administration Unit and our Investments Division.

We are responsible for administering the Local Government Pension Scheme in South Yorkshire for Local Government employees. Set up in 1988, after the abolition of the Metropolitan County Councils in 1986. We maintain, invest and administer the South Yorkshire Pension Fund (approximate value £3.7 billion) on behalf of over 120 contributing employers and over 100,000 members. Predominant amongst the contributing employers are the Metropolitan District Councils of Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield, the civilian arms of the Fire and Police Services plus the Probation Service.
