The LGPS changed on the 1 April 2008. Membership from that date provides an annual pension
based upon an improved 60ths accrual rate, with no automatic provision of a Lump Sum
(although one can be provided at retirement through commutation of annual pension).
Membership before 1 April 2008 continues to provide an annual pension based upon 1/80ths
accrual, with an automatic 3/80ths Lump Sum.
Although the new scheme is in place, certain areas have still to be finalised therefore,
myPension is unable to project benefits where retirement is on the grounds of ill
health and flexible retirement. Please contact us if you require a quote of either of
these benefits or you are seriously considering retiring on any other grounds.
