Expression of wish - death grant nomination

SYPA has absolute discretion over who receives any lump sum death grant that becomes payable in the unfortunate event of your death. However it is helpful to us if you let us know your wishes by completing an expression of wish form.

You can nominate anyone you like from your family and friends or even charitable organisations. All you need to do is decide who and what proportion of the death grant you would like them to receive. As long as the total proportion for each person or organisation adds up to 100% you can nominate as many people or organisations as you like.

If you have already submitted an expression of wish form it is important that you keep it up to date as your personal circumstances change. Each year we will remind you who you have nominated to assist you with this.

A valid expression of wish will make it unlikely that any amounts paid to your nominated beneficiaries will be subject to inheritance tax and that funds can be distributed quickly without the need for legal estate documents like probate and letters of administration.
