Retirement Planning
We understand that retirement can be both exciting and stressful, and we will do everything we can to make the process as simple as possible. The section of the website has been developed to provide deferred members with essential information when considering retirement and about the LGPS retirement process.
Please note - The Government has announced the earliest age that you can take your pension will increase from age 55 to 57 from 6 April 2028.
Accessing Your Benefits
If you leave your job before retirement and you are entitled to deferred benefits, you can generally take your deferred pension at any time between age 55 and 75 provided you have left the employment for which your deferred benefit was awarded. However, if you draw your benefits before your Normal Pension Age (NPA) your benefits will be reduced for early payment. To find out the date you can take your benefits unreduced please refer to your Annual Deferred Pension Statement which can be found on your online account
mypension
mydocuments section.
You may be able to take it earlier if you are too ill to work.
